Ladies and mortals: Typhoon season has arrived here in Korea. This means torrential downpour taking up at least 50% of what summer we have left. I'll be posting some interesting places to hold up and stay occupied in the days to come. The first is this small but entirely unique cafe in Gwangju.

One of the more interesting cafes I’ve been to in Korea is the terrarium cafe called 봄에서있을게 meaning, “I’ll stay in spring.”

You can order a drink while browsing the many figurines to decorate your terrarium with. They have different sized jars and colored pebbles to choose from.

Once you’ve accumulated all of your thing-a-ma-jigs you can purchase one or two 마리모 (small moss balls) that will give life to your underwater terrarium.

I have been here twice. The first time, I made a small moss habitat (shown here) that decorates the entrance of my apartment and that I adore to this day.

*Note: If you really want to do the mossy terrarium, I would recommend bringing a Korean friend if you don't speak Korean, as the instructions are a bit complicated.

The second time around, I had to do the 마리모 and bought two to keep each other company of course~

I picked out a Totoro figurine, a little bench, and a cherry blossom tree. The owner recommended I change the pebbles to ensure the healthiest environment for the plants.

The thing that I love most about this cafe is that the owner cares a lot about the plants that he sells and wants to inform you so that your plants will thrive.

He also sells cactus and succulents in these sweet little cups and cans.

This would be the perfect location for a first date, second date, really any date. More importantly, everyone should treat themselves to a self-centered, self-care date and stop by this cafe afterwards to pick up a new, mossy friend to take home.
